Write it down in your "to do" list--build wind generator. Everyone is vitally involved in the move to cut pollution of our atmosphere. We all have been warned by scientists that we must change our ways and greatly cut down on our reliance on fossil fuels. If we do not do so the polluting gases we are pouring into the atmosphere will bring about climate changes which will have disastrous effects.
We are already seeing greater hurricane activity, huge forest fires and droughts. This can only get much worse if we continue in our present ever increasing use of oil,gas and coal to produce electric power and to power our vehicles. Alternative energy sources such as small wind generators are the individual consumers best way to personally reduce their carbon footprint.
We all need to become proactive in promoting the much needed changes. Governments are slow to act unless pushed. Imposing restrictions and taxes on the use of fossil fuels does not buy votes so many politicians are reluctant to take the lead. It is up to the consumer to lead the way by cutting his own carbon footprint.
One way to do this is to build a wind turbine. Individual power production may be small but if many people do it the total effect can be huge. It is possible to build a wind power generator at quite low cost. $100 or less will buy all the necessary parts to build a wind turbine. New or used auto parts are the main components and building wind powered turbines is actually a fairly easy project. No special tools are needed and the average home workshopper is quite capable of undertaking this project.

Free Green energy From The Wind
We call it "green" energy because it is environmentally friendly. When we burn oil or gas to produce electricity we pollute the atmosphere with "greenhouse" gases which may cause climate change.
Wind turbines produce no greenhouse gases or any other pollution. Some people say that a wind farm with huge turbines scattered over miles of countryside is "Visual Pollution". They say these things are ugly and spoil the whole area visually.
I suppose it depends on your point of view. Many wind farms are in areas of relatively sparse population. Ergo the do not pollute visually for a lot of people.
We have to decide if the visual pollution is more important than pollution of the atmosphere by conventional fossil fuel powered electricity generators. I personally say it is not. I will take a bit of visual pollution anyday rather than continue to poison our atmosphere.

Wind Energy--A Bonanza Of Free Power
Wind power comes second only to natural gas as a source of new energy in the United States. This according to Mark Jacobson who is an atmospheric scientist at Stanford.
At the end of the year 2007 wind turbines in the USA were producing 16,818 megawatts of electricity. Nearly 30 percent of that generating capability was installed during 2007. The American wind energy Association,(AWEA), estimates that nearly 30 percent of all new energy supplies last year were wind energy. This year wind energy will produce about 1 percent of the United States power supply says AWEA. This is enough to supply 4.5 million homes.
Wind generated power will in future provide a much larger portion of the United States energy requirements. It is estimated that wind power will in future supply 20 percent of the United states power requirements.
Wind power is making great strides ahead all over the world. In Denmark 20 percent of power needs are generated by wind turbines. In the United States the state of Texas is in the lead, producing 20 percent of the state's power needs from wind turbines. The Cape Wind Energy Project intends to build a wind farm of 120 turbines off the Nantucket coast which could provide 80 percent of the Cape and Islands power requirements.
Theoretically wind power could produce five times more electricity than is currently used in the United States. Some of the best locations for wind power installations are on farmland, particularly in the plains states. The wind resource however varies considerably in different locations.
A number of states have been producing wind resource maps and collecting data which could be used by farmers to determine the potential for wind power production on their land. The market for wind power depends strictly on the cost of course. The cost of wind generated power has fallen by around 90 percent since 1980 and by 2010 it is expected that wind energy will be cheaper than fossil fuel produced power. Wind Turbines--Save Money With Free Electricity
Wind turbines are a technology whose time has come. Prominent scientists have warned us that we must reduce our use of fossil fuels or risk disastrous climate change. Already we are seeing more hurricanes and they are more powerful hurricanes. Drought and huge forest fires are changing forever many parts of the USA and other countries. Flooding and severe storms are becoming more and more an everyday expectation.
Wind power generators can produce a large part of the power we consume. Presently wind generation accounts for only a little more than 1% of the power generated in the USA. This is gradually changing however as more and more wind tuerbines come on line. The question is will this slow change be enough and I fear that the answer is no it will not. We need to do more and to do it quickly if we are to avert disaster.
Small wind turbines installed on private propert can play a big part in this change. More and more people recognise this and are installing wind power generators to produce part or even all of the power they need. A major stumbling block has been cost. These machines even in smaller sizes are expensive. The solution which is most promising here is to build your own turbine from auto parts. Plans are available for doing this and it is a fairly easy project. For around $100 a very good machine, which will produce just as much free power as a more expensive commercial model ,can be built. Check out this option, click here build a turbine
A home built wind turbine is easily within the capability of the averatge home workshopper. It can be mounted on a rooftop or on a free standing tower. You can build several for the cost of one purchased machine and even make excess power to sell to your local power utility.Check it out at http://www.greenwindpowerturbine.com
